Cause of Varicose Veins

The cause of varicose veins will vary. There are several varicose vein causes. And, the causes of spider veins are specific as well. Varicose veins are distended and swollen veins, often occurring in the legs. These are often treated for cosmetic reasons, but do sometimes cause pain.

What causes varicose veins? Its often that the valves of the veins are damaged and do not function properly. Gravity may cause blood to accumulate in these veins, meaning the blood will pool and become stagnant and dark in color. These veins are unfortunately very close to the skins surface, which allows them to be seen. Varicose veins will also happen deeper inside as well. The causes of spider veins may be dilated veins, which are very tiny. These dilated veins, often in the legs, will form a "spider" pattern. These can also be painful.

Varicose vein causes also include heredity.  A Venogram can be performed, which is essentially an x-ray of the body's blood vessels. This may be accompanied by a Doppler ultrasound used to record the blood flow patterns.

If you want to know more about the cause of varicose veins in your particular case, visit with a vein treatment specialist in your city. We are developing a listing of vein related physicians and clinics.

Despite the causes of spider and varicose veins, you can observe some of the following to avoid varicose veins getting more prominent and otherwise worse:

-Take breaks from standing.

-Remember to take short walks during the day to keep the blood circulating through these veins.

-Wear support stockings as needed.

-Possibly even lie with your feet proper up against a wall. Do this for a few minutes each day. This will help the pooled blood in your legs to be restored.

Varicose vein causes are many, but there are things you can do to make the situation better, both in terms of aesthetics and pain control. For some however, this will entail a visit to the laser treatment center to fully solve the problem.
