Varicose Vein Therapy

Varicose vein therapy has many options, but what are main cause for varicose and spider veins?

The main cause of varicose and spider veins are not fully understood. In some cases, the absence or weakness of valves in the veins may cause the poor venous circulation and may result in varicose veins. Valves that are present inside veins normally act to ensure that the blood in the veins do not go the wrong direction away from the large veins and to the heart. They are mainly found in the perforating and some inner veins.
In various other cases, weakness that is found in the veins walls may cause the poling of the blood cells. The walls of the blood vessels can easily become weaker and less competent than the normal, which cause the volume of blood in the veins to increase, and thus leading to varicose veins.

Less commonly varicose veins are mainly caused by various diseases such as
    * Phlebitis (inflammation of veins)
    * Blood clots or any obstacle to blood flow in the veins, or
    * Abnormalities of the veins.

Venous disease is mainly progressive and cannot be prevented fully. However in various cases, wearing supportive hosiery and by maintaining usual weight and by regular exercise can be beneficial.
